Some Real life Power Suit like Ironman

Hello friends i think that no one is unfamiliar with Ironman movie and the fantastic suites that Tony Stark uses. But here are several real life suites that are ready for now. Off course you can’t use them to just fly in the air around and making fun with arms and ammunition, but these are suites designed to make your life easy.

HARDIMAN

A glimpse of Hardiman power suite
This is the first recorded attempt to make such a power suite. In 1965 they started developing a robot that can lift much weight with hydraulics (750 pounds). They were able to demonstrate one of his arm working fine.but their development stopped in 1970 because the skeleton was not movable as the legs were not moving properly.

Soft Pneumatic Exoskeleton

This was one designed by a Genius student (Che-Wei Wang), he has made this skeleton help lifting more weight with the help of compressed CO2. The soft materials mean it can conform to the body more naturally than a metal exoskeleton ever could, and it weighs in at a mere 6.5 pounds.

BLEEX

With major funding from DARPA the students of Berkeley’s Human Engineering Laboratory has developed
Berkeley Lower Extremity Exoskeleton (BLEEX) was developed. The backpack contains a small power source that delivers hydraulic power to the moving parts. The backpack can stow up to 70 pounds, but when the suit is on, it feels like only 5 pounds to the wearer. BLEEX’s top speed has been clocked at around 4mph.

XOS Exoskeleton

This is another one designed by DARPA.XOS Exoskeleton has assisted movements for upper body parts as well as the capacity to carry 200 pounds weight.

HAL 5

So are you excited till now and thinking to have one like these robotic suites someday to feel like Ironman?
Yes you can’t afford all the listed above but you can surely get a HAL 5 if you can spend 1000$ monthly. HAL(Hybrid Assistive Limb) has been developed by Japanese Robotics Company. The suit features one of the most advanced control systems of its kind, sensing electrical impulses in the skin it determines the user’s movement and predicts desired motion from a set of likely movements.

X1

We have already seen about NASA X1 exoskeleton. This is is still in developing stage.

Conclusion

In near future we will be seeing many exoskeleton suites available in market as well as military applications. So are you ready to feel like IRONMAN?

and a all round entertaining blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read it all at the minute
but I have saved it and also included your RSS feeds, so when I
have time I will be back to read a great deal more, Please do keep up the great work.
